October 30 me a winner, AWESOME I love the emails, you know. Those emails, the ones that say "you have won a million pounds or half a million pounds." All I have to do is send an email or call a special number and give them all the information they need to crack into my bank account. Or better yet steal my entire identity. If only it were so easy to get that kind of money. What would I do with the money? Would I be any happier? I really don't think so. But if you read this and you have a spare half a million pounds lying around, please send it my way. Just send me an email with your name, email address, street and mailing address, date of birth, social security number or federal i.d. number and the name and address of your bank. Thanks in advance! October 28 Approaching HalloweenSitting here and remembering Halloween as a child, then speeding forward to being a teen. It was so much fun, and always a time to celebrate the fall. When my children were young it was also a very special time. Now, they each are choosing how to spend the day. It falls on a Saturday this year. Emily will be in Austin. Ross is wanting to head to San Marcos again. Jon is supposedly going to hang out with his best friends. Zack has not told me if he has any plans. It is is like last year he will decide at 5 pm Halloween night that he wants to be something really cool for Halloween. Then it will be a scramble to see if we can come up with something that is even close to his idea! In any case, Halloween is always fun, we always laugh and there always seems to be plenty of candy left laying around here! October 18 RunningAt 0445 it was 57 degrees F, low humidity and no rain! Wow! Running weather for sure! We were out of the house by 0500. At first it felt a little cool, but after a short walking warm up I broke into a slow jog, within minutes I felt great. I ran over 5 miles and did a pretty steady 11 min / mile. This is the time of year that running is a joy. This afternoon I took off again and ran to the gym. It was so nice to have the sun shining down on you without oppressive radiant heat. I don't know how many more of these great days we will have but I for one am grateful to have had this one! October 16 A Day, A Fall DayToday, was a day. Much like any other day. But is was warm...95 by my car thermometer. It is amazing to me that it could be 95 degrees in mid October. I am very disappointed that it is not really fall yet. Another front is supposed to come through soon. I hope it is a good one. I would love to have a day that stays below 80 degrees! Have a Happy Friday! October 04 technology how frustratinga glitch just a small glitch it took away part of my blog posting it is gone forever now it's all gone because I got angry I cancelled the draft and closed this application now I don't know how anyone else feels about ragweed technology is great and then it isn't! October 03 Civility and Public OutburstsMy husband posted a nice quote from Character Count's Michael Josephson on his Facebook wall with a link to a piece that he wrote about toxic incivility. I believe that the piece was not political, was fair and open minded and made some very good points. Unfortunately, as if to prove that the far right cannot be civil, my brother in law had to write several comments that were tirades about lack of civility in the democrats. In fact, all I can conclude from his recent postings and comments, is that my brother in law is an arch-conservative closed minded religious zealot without any sense of decorum or civility.... wow look at those adjectives go! He is always stating things as if they are fact and not opinion... I have lots of opinions but I try very hard not to assert them as if they are facts. I am so miffed at everyone for their take on Joe Miller's outburst. I don't think it matters who is giving a speech or what they are saying it is not civil to yell out. It is not respectful to interrupt a speaker. Given that the person he yelled at was the President, however, is it right to yell during his speech, "you Lie!?" I am confused, because most of these people castigated Natalie Maines for saying that the Dixie Chicks were "... ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas," how can they support Joe Miller's blatant rudeness and incivility? I am all for freedom of speech and support both of these people having freedom of speech... but what about civillity? what about respect? I think the office of President of the United States deserves a certain level of respect. I also think that there is a difference in interrupting a speech with a rude remark and making a public statement in another arena. Well, I can believe what I want and say what I believe, it might not be a fact but I do have the freedom to share it in my blog. God Bless America! October 01 a beautiful day The sky was blue, the outside temperature almost perfect, still a little bit on the warm side at the warmest part of the day. The second front to pass through and "cool" things down. I am looking forward to the next. If it stays below 80 for an entire day I will be in heaven! |
