    Her Story

It is a story from the past, a memory of an event, the truth as she saw it. Was it the truth, probably not, because the truth changes. The truth becomes different for her as she tells the story. In some ways, the story is better. But as time goes by the story mutates and her perception changes. Everyone has their interpretation of events in the past. Each person will re-tell the story different. But with every retelling she will change the story slightly, will add details that are fictional and these will over time become more real to her. So strange, as she sits trying to contemplate her next blog that all she can think about is the fictionalization of life. Erica Jong believes that most of her memories have become fictionalized. Her memories are a victim of her very creative imagination; she says that she improves reality. I met a retired businessman who isn't really retired. His goal he told me was to mark time with special memories, make special memories. He wants to be able to sit in a nursing home some day and go back in time and relive special memories from his walk through life. He had spent several years working hard, although he was retired and he really wanted to make sure to take the time to create special memories. I like that idea. So, because we are products of our experiences, both the good and bad, I think it is important to remember the good and bad. And because I am "her" of this tale, and she is me, as life goes on I believe that her story will get better with time, the protagonist will be braver, the antagonist more evil. Not every strand of her story will be happy, there will be hurt, there will be laughter, there will be more fun. That is okay with her because through this she will have more to share with others and more to relive as memories; those glimpses of the past that have been retouched by her imagination.

    Hiking and Photography

We spent most of the afternoon yesterday visiting, exploring, hiking our way through Mercer Arboretum http://www.hcp4.net/mercer/ and Botanical Gardens. We being the part of the Watson family that willing hikes (Fay, David and Zachary).  We packed a lunch, okay, we didn't pack a lunch, Fay packed us a lunch and we headed up the freeway to trek to the North side of Houston.  Taking temporary leave of my senses we started to head out Dixie Farm Road to I-45.  Crazy idea that...because EVERYONE was trying to get to the Wings Over Houston Air Show at Ellington.  So, we detoured and made our way to Scarsdale using back roads.  No other distractions or detractors on the trip.  I have posted photographs in a picasa album and embedded the slideshow here.
